Huntin For Money Sells to Frank Family of Arizona

GoHorseShow is excited to report that the McMullen family has sold Huntin For Money (Honey) to the Frank family who is under the guidance of Scott and Karen Graham of Cave Creek, Arizona.

“Honey has been bought mainly for my daughter, Sydney,” the new owner, Cathy Frank told GoHorseShow. “Syd will be 11 in December and has been riding for a little more than 18 months. She’s been showing my trail horse in the walk-trot western events, but he cheats on her pretty badly so there is not a lot of hope she could ever get him to lope around the pen without spurring him every stride and that doesn’t make for an attractive picture! Syd will still show Hank in the trail but will move up to Honey for the other western events.”

Lindsey McMullen’s mom, Carla says that the Congress was a “miserable” time for her and her daughter because they were unsure whether they should keep Honey or sell her. “We decided to sell her because we thought she had so much potential and it was too early to retire her and she is too nice of a mare to just get shown every once in awhile.”

“She was like family, and I’m really going to miss her being home at my house,” Carla McMullen told GoHorseShow. The deal was finalized on Friday, and Honey will be heading home with the Graham’s to sunny Arizona.

“I’m never going to get close to another horse again,” Carla says and chokes with up with emotion at the same time. “My daughter is in mourning and really sad. She was such a pretty picture on Honey, but I’m excited to see a little girl riding her. I really think that Honey has the capability to win the World in the Western Riding, and I think Karen may be able to do just that.”

This past August, Lindsey and Huntin For Money had their dreams fulfilled at the AQHYA World when they were awarded World Champions in the Horsemanship. This team was also Reserve World Champions in the Showmanship.

The 2001 gray mare is by Huntin For Chocolate out of Bonanza Investor. She has over $58,000 in NSBA earnings and accumulated nearly 1400 points so far in her career. This mare was bred by Stanley and Susan Scott of Ocala, Florida. Huntin for Money and Megan McMullen were also World Champions in the Showmanship in 2009.
