The fan favorite and slated to be syndicated two year old Appaloosa stallion “My Little Secret” is now owned 100% by a member of the Saudi Royal family. “Doug The Horse” as he’s known at the barn, was ready for his debut as the next great syndicated halter stallion in the Appaloosa industry, following in the legacy of the great syndicated sire “The Secret”. The syndication opportunity was announced in the October issue of the Appaloosa Journal, “Doug The Horse” was ready to take on a collection of shareholders and begin his breeding career after the Appaloosa World Show that is currently underway in Fort Worth, Texas. Days prior to being loading into the Char-O-Lot Ranch rig for the World Show, Prince Waleed Khaled Khalifa pulled a surprising move and bought all the shares outright making him the sole shareholder and new owner.
Dubai to Vegas Equine, LLC. and the late Doug Schembri cultivated relationships in the Middle East on their visits there in 2009 and 2010 in an effort to develop a market for the uniquely colored Appaloosa horse. The Prince’s interest is in shipping frozen semen to breed his extensive stable of Arabian mares to result in the best attributes of both breeds. Doug Schembri spotted this horse at the 2009 World Show and immediately knew that he had the potential to be the next great breeding stallion. Doug’s vision has now become a reality as the horse, will represent the Appaloosa breed in the Middle East.
Dubai to Vegas Equine, LLC., was quoted as saying “We are thrilled. There was a lot of interest, even as early as last year, in the syndication of this horse who has a large and committed following and is really a people’s horse who draws a crowd, so we intended to have a great group of shareholders and have fun breeding within the syndicate. Selling all shares to one very gracious and able horseman was really more than I imagined. The horse will remain at Char-O-Lot Ranch and that was the deal clincher for me. Everybody is dazzled by this exceptional horse and the Prince was too. Everything was right so we happily cashed the check.”
