The very “Hot” Big Country QHA Spring Show and the Texas Amateur Championship Show was held on the Heart of Texas (HOT) Fairgrounds in Waco, Texas, April 19-23rd.
The show appeared to be a huge success with 20 to 30 in the youth and amateur classes and some new faces in the show arena.
The judges for the event were Andrea Simons, Mark Defreece, Gretchen Mathes, Robin and Murray Griggs, Bonnie Jo Clay, Stephanie Lynn, and Tinker Buckley.
Youth competitor, Lindsey McMullen, who won the youth all-around at the show with Huntin For Money, loved the warm-up rides available for the Western Riding. Lindsey reports that the Western Riding was so big that it took all day and was highly competitive. Rusty and Katie Green also won the Three Year-Old classes and came away with Golden West saddle pads for their efforts. There were also many outstanding awards given away at the show, especially to the amateur competitors.
“I was so shocked by how many new faces and little kids that were running around at the show,” McMullen says. “It was really great to see so many new people having at good time at our shows.”
Thank you to our photographers Jenna Dempze, Beth Case, Kerry Papendick and Nancy Cooper for the cumulative candids effort.
