The 2011 Prairie Classic was held on the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds, February 16-20. This is the second year for this growing show which was approved by both the Oklahoma Quarter Horse and Kansas Quarter Horse Associations as well as AQHA. Class sizes were very impressive – youth and amateur were almost double from 2010 – and fantastic weather in the Oklahoma City area helped contribute to a very successful show which saw exhibitors who traveled as far as Florida to attend.
There were five sets of points in roping and four
sets of points in all other classes. Most amateur and youth classes were held on Saturday and
Sunday with roping, reining and speed classes on Thursday and Friday. Circuit awards in all classes and
Triple Crown Championship buckles in the Jr, Sr and Ama heading and
heeling classes. Money added allowance pleasure class on Sunday for all
exhibitors who show in a western pleasure class but do not earn any AQHA
points. New this year were special buckles for Kansas QHA members for all around youth and
amateur and Southern Belle approved classes.
