American Paint Horse Highlights at the 2010 World Equestrian Games

The 2010 FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games is only days
away and the horse world is buzzing with excitement. The American Paint Horse
Association (APHA) is proud to be a part of the event being held in Lexington,
Kentucky, September 25-October 10, 2010. There will be much to do and many
horse breeds showcased, but if you are a Paint Horse enthusiast, be sure to
catch the Paint action taking place during this event.

First on
the list for Paint Horse lovers is a visit to the APHA booth in the Equine
Village to say hello and enter the daily drawings for some wonderful prizes
including coffee table books, trading pins and a subscription to the Paint Horse Journal,and more.The Equine Village is a hub of
educational seminars, entertainment, and lectures from equine industries top
professionals.

Next, be
sure to join top clinician Lynn Palm and her talented American Paint Horse
Rugged Painted Lark every day in the Equine Village demonstration area for her
bridleless exhibition showcasing the versatility of the American Paint Horse.
The daily drawings will be held during her demonstration.

If you
are attending the Opening Ceremonies, we’re sure your eye will catch the Paints
involved in this special occasion. Nationally-known Native American cultural
consultant, horse trainer and Paint Horse breeder Phillip Whiteman Jr. and his
Paint Horses will be blessing the ground for the Games. Also making appearances are Equine Extremist
and entertainer Tommie Turvey and his team of Paints, the horse who played
Hidalgo in the movie of the same name (known as RJ Masterbug on the APHA
recordbook) and the California Cowgirls drill team.

Reining
competition will be one of the first disciplines to take to the arena at the
Games. Two top Paint Horses will be competing ­– Colonels Nite Special (Gunners
Special Nite AQHA) and Tom McCutcheon will ride for the U.S. and Bonnies Smart
Chic and Guillermo Recio will compete for Spain. Team competition will take
place Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26 in the Indoor Arena. Qualifying
competition will take place Tuesday, September 28 in the Indoor Arena. The
Individual Final competition and Freestyle Exhibition will take place Thursday,
September 30 in the Indoor Arena.

The
Kentucky Horse Park features many breeds, including the American Paint Horse,
in its many exhibits throughout the park. One resident horse, a “Star of the
Park” is Summer, an American Paint Horse who is always on hand to show the
world what a Paint Horse is all about.

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian
Games will be held on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park, with
approximately 600,000 tickets expected to be sold. Spectators will come from
around the world to attend this event that incorporates education and
competition. For more information about
