AQHYA Winning Run: Showmanship at Halter

“I’ve
never felt better in my entire life,” said Cheyenne Peterson of Plano,
Texas, after she walked out of the coliseum leading Ritzy Investment and
carrying the gold trophy for the 2010 youth world championship in
showmanship. She has been showing American Quarter Horses since 2001,
and this is her first win at a Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship
Show. Cheyenne gives a lot of credit to her trainers, John and Jill
Briggs. “They literally rewrote my showmanship,” Cheyenne said. “They
emphasized body postion and how I run, and the connection between my
horse and I. I think, after all these years, that’s what finally made
the difference.” Cheyenne has more to go – the horsemanship finals on
August 3, and the trail finals on August 4.
