On the same day that GoHorseShow.com celebrates its second birthday, we are proud to announce the addition of yet another great member to our expanding team. Please welcome Laura Kathryn Gilmer as GoHorseShow.com’s new Senior Writer and Associate Editor. Laura joins GoHorseShow.com with an extensive background as a breeder, exhibitor and multi-carded judge and has developed an excellent reputation in all aspects of the horse show community.
A graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles with a master’s degree in Journalism, Laura has extensive experience in broadcast and print news, entertainment, and public relations related fields. While in graduate school, her first published article was for the news website MSNBC.COM. She is excited about the opportunity to come full circle and write for a website again with the ability to combine her love of writing and horses.
For the past several years, Laura has been a feature writer and editor for several equine related magazines in the industry as well as receiving her AQHA judge’s card last year. This highly driven and accomplished lady also holds her NRHA, NSBA, APHA, and PHBA judges cards. Laura is a past president of the Tennessee Junior Quarter Horse Association and is currently on the AQHA Show and Contest Committee.
In addition, she is an 18-time All American Quarter Horse Congress winner and was the youngest AQHA All Around Youth in the nation at age 11. This Tennessee native has also raised and bred Congress winners and World placers in a career in the horse industry that has spanned over 20 years.
“I have been friends with the owners of GoHorseShow.com for as long as I’ve been in the industry and I’m honored to be working for a company that is at the forefront of using the internet to communicate with the equine industry,” says Laura. “GoHorseShow.com is expanding and incorporating new ideas into their site while keeping the reader experience fun and educational. It is the go-to site for everything equine and horse show related, and I am honored to be part of the team.”
Laura’s main duties will be to research, write and edit articles on a daily basis. We at GoHorseShow.com are positive that Laura’s wealth of knowledge and contacts in the industry will be a considerable asset to our company. We are thrilled to have such a superior individual join the GoHorseShow.com family, and we know that her drive and willingness to go the extra mile will help us remain the top site in the industry.
Laura is excited to hear about any late breaking news and potential article ideas from the horse show community. Feel free to contact her with any suggestions you may have at [email protected] or by phone at 615-294-2965.
