2010 marks the 37th Annual Arizona Sun Circuit which will be held at WestWorld in Scottsdale January 24 – February 1. The eight-day show encompasses a wide variety of events, from Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle to Roping and Working Cow.
Open and Amateur classes will run both weekends (Sunday, January 24th through Monday, February 1st, with a day off on Thursday, January 28th) and will offer eight shows, double-judged. This year, the Youth classes will run on the second weekend (Friday, January 29th through Monday, February 1st). Back again this year by popular demand, we are offering triple judged format for the Youth classes. That means the youth exhibitors get to show twice to a total of six judges over the course of the weekend.
We’re excited to announce that for the first time, Sun Circuit will host the Southern Belle Breeders Invitation Futurity. A total of $10,500 in added money will enhance this already great circuit and expand the array of showing opportunities. Classes will include Southern Belle Breeders 3 Year Old Open Western Pleasure ($2,500 added), 3 Year Old Non Pro Western Pleasure ($1,500 added), Green Trail ($1,250 added), Green Western Riding ($1,250 added), Maturity Open Western Pleasure ($1,500 added), All Age Open Hunter Under Saddle ($1,500 added), and All Age Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle ($1,000 added). The classes are open to offspring from stallions that have sold in the 2009 and 2010 Southern Belle Breeder’s Program. For more information and details, please contact Chris Cecil-Darnell at 870-926-5285. The website for the Southern Belle Breeders is www.tsbelle.com.
Another change this year is that we’ve moved events and arenas. We were pleased that WestWorld is now able to accommodate putting the cattle events (Roping and Working Cowhorse) back into the Equidome and the rail classes (Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Horsemanship, Equitation) as well as the Halter will be held in the outdoor Wendell Arena. This is the preferred arena for these classes; both the cattle exhibitors and the rail exhibitors are tickled about this change.
As they did last year, Mark Harrell and David Pardue will impart their special brand of show management and fun at Sun Circuit. Watch for more information and news updates, including parties and exhibitor support programs. The 2010 Sun Circuit promises to the better than ever!!!
