Hot Ones Only is re-writing the record books faster than people can keep up. What we know for sure is that with three Congress Championships his 2 year old year and an unbelievable five more wins in 2009, he is the only horse to win eight Congress Championships by his 3 year old year.
“Bruno” as he is fondly called (he was named after a good friend of owner Tammy Dyer’s named “Bruna”) set multiple records and amazed the crowd as a 2 year old when he won the prestigious Congress Masters 2YO Hunter Under Saddle with Beth Case and the next day won the Junior Hunter Under Saddle with Beth and the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle with Sharnai Thompson…all as a 2 year old. This year he returned to the Congress for an incredible five additional wins.
Now the entire Highpoint team set their sights on making history at the 2009 AQHA World Championship show. Sharnai Thompson showed him in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle and won Unanimously! Amateur Pleasure Driving is next. During open week, Charlie Cole will show him in the Junior Pleasure Driving and Beth Case will present him in the Junior Hunter Under Saddle.
“It’s exciting to work and train a horse like Bruno,” says Charlie Cole. “Sharnai raised him and from the first couple weeks of his life we all knew he was special. Once he was started under saddle we knew just how special he was. He never had a bad day. He’s a beautiful horse that moves incredible and is unbelievably good minded. I broke him to drive and showed in his first driving class all in the same week as a two year old. We couldn’t be happier with his success at this year’s Congress.”
Sharnai Thompson adds, “We really appreciate the profound praise and encouragement from trainers, breeders, and judges alike.” Thompson appreciates everything Bruno has brought to her life. “With all the strife and struggles that come with breeding and raising horses, Bruno makes me proud that I do. He’s a once in a lifetime horse that I held in my arms since day one which makes it even more extraordinary to watch him go from a prospect to a champion.“
After the World Show, Bruno will return to Highpoint and stand at stud for the 2010 breeding season. “We bred Bruno in 2009 with an incredible response to him,” says owner Tammy Dyer. “He had a full book. Even with all of his success we have decided to leave his breeding fee for 2010 the same because we have a great appreciation for our mare owners and we also feel the pain as everyone else with the economy.”
According to Thompson, “We hope he will produce a new age of big, beautiful, great minded horses like he is, but to us, he will always affectionately be…just Bruno.”
