Terry Wilkerson and One Tuff Mr and Josh Weakly and Feared swapped top spots twice in the judges’ lineups in the 2009 finals for amateur yearling geldings. It kept the crowd wondering who would come out with the win. Good friends, both men wished each other luck in the lineup, but Terry and his bay gelding ended up with the win. Terry’s wife, Leslie, joined him in the arena and gave him a congratulatory kiss before his in-the-arena interview. “It’s been a difficult year for us,” Terry said. Both of Leslie’s parents passed away this year; her mother just before the All American Quarter Horse Congress. “We almost didn’t come. We just bought our plane tickets on Monday.” The Journal asked Terry and Leslie more after they had their winning photos taken.
