Amateur weanling geldings started off the halter finals on November 12, and James Kifer of Hartselle, Alabama, walked into the arena seventh in the go with his homebred gelding, JMK Amarillo High. At the 2009 Bayer Select World Championship show, the gelding was a stallion and James showed him to a third-place finish in the Select weanling stallions. But the horse came to the AQHA World Championship Show a gelding, and won a world championship. What makes the win extra special is the fact that James also raised the youngster’s sire, JMK Supernatural. After that class, he was in back-to-back classes the rest of the morning, so we caught him Friday, November 13, after the amateur 2-year-old stallions class.
