cAnyone in the stands who knew the last two women standing in the arena for the showmanship awards presentation on November 11 also knew how special that was. Whitney Walquist Vicars of Cleburne, Texas, and Elizabeth Borders of Wichita Falls, Texas, have been longtime friends and competitors since their youth days. When Elizabeth was called for reserve, the two embraced in genuine friendship as the crowd cheered. Whitney and her new horse, Dress This, aka “Cowboy,” had the nod for first under four of the five judges. The Journal asked her about the win back in the Superbarn.
