Hannah Casper brought high-end jewelry and high-fashion clothing to the horse show world and she’s at it again with her new business, Good Ride. In the past six months, Hannah has taken an idea she had for a t-shirt business and turned it into wide-reaching clothing and accessories line that has already secured itself as a corporate sponsor of the National Finals Rodeo. It is no doubt that her limitless energy and passion will turn Good Ride into a household name, and not just in the horse show world.
GoHorseShow.com sat down with Hannah and talked about her newest endeavor. In true Hannah style, her enthusiasm was off the chart!
Hannah, explain to us what is Good Ride?
Good ride is a company that makes apparel and accessories for any kind of discipline that you can ride like a surfboard, skateboard, water skiis, fishing boat, or a bull. The Good Ride motto is ‘From an ocean tide to an 8 second ride, whatever your rush may be.
Do it with passion and do it in fashion for today I will live out my
dreams. Life’s a ride. Make it a good one’
Everybody can find a rush in something and it’s never too late to live out your dreams by riding something that you love.
We have this on our website and it’s really what we’re all about. It reads: ‘All of us at Good Ride will strive to open the doors of life to make each of us enjoy the ride of our choice. Raised on the water and an equine enthusiast, the soul of this company wants people to remember and pursue a good ride. Whether fishing in the deep blue, cruising the open roads of our great states, or that cowboy riding to stay on for eight, you’re never too old and it’s never too late to find a passion that gives you a rush. So we say to all of you from an ocean tide to an eight second ride or anywhere in between, we wish you a good ride and hope you will live out your dreams. Life’s a ride. Make it a good one.’
How is Good Ride clothing going to differ from what we already see at the horse shows?
Today, at the horse shows you see a lot of people dressed in the very cowboy look and then there’s the high fashion street look. Good Ride falls in between. It’s a very toned down, getting back to basics look. It is simpler and more conservative, yet still edgy and fun. It’s instilling a way of life, a happy feeling.
Good Ride will offer anything from an $18 t-shirt and affordable sweat shirts to high end items such as leather jackets or garments adorned with Swarovski crystals. We are trying to keep the items at a price point where people can afford it. People are starting to go back to the old ways of not spending every penny on their clothes and we are changing with the times as well. We make high quality, high fashion clothes but they are priced so people can afford them.
How did you get the idea for Good Ride?
We were in Vero Beach, Florida, at Ronnie’s sister’s house. They own a surf shop and we were talking about the surfing business and how everything looked the same. I mentioned that I wanted to start a cool t-shirt line that they could sell. On the way home in the car, Ronnie and I started brainstorming and I came up with the phrase ‘Good Ride.’ It all started from there because at the horse shows people say ‘Oh man, you had a good ride.” That weekend we had been at a surf contest and all the guys would say “Dude, you had a good ride.” In the bulls they say ‘That was a good ride,” and the same when Ronnie goes fishing they ask ‘Did you have a good ride today?’ So, through that name the whole idea of Good Ride was born and we just went with it!
Bring us up to speed on where things are?
We are corporate sponsors of the National Finals Rodeo along with Wrangler and other big companies like that. Our full line will be launched in a booth in Las Vegas in December and 80% of our line will be done by then. We will keep adding to it and updating as we go along but we have about 30 styles right now. In the end we will have hundreds.
Lisa King is my business partner and we’re giving this our all. I went to Lisa and Donnie (King) with this idea and they didn’t hesitate to jump on board 100 percent. I am so thankful for everything they’ve done and there is no way I could be at this point with this project without them.
What has been the public’s interest level?
It has been absolutely unbelievable! Everyone can identify with our brand whether you’re into boats, horses, motorcycles you name it. I’m constantly being asked ‘Where and when can I get it?’ Even the models for our commercial wanted to buy the samples. Our male model told me that the sweatshirt he wore in the commercial was ‘Like Ed Hardy but cooler!’ How fun is that?
The horse show people have shown a ton of interest, as well. We have Good Ride Guys like Kenny Lakins who we have chosen to wear our clothes when they show. Kenny wore our shirt in the $250,000 class at the Reichert (pictured left).
World Champion trainer Gil Galyean had noticed Kenny Lakins’ Good Ride shirt at the Reichert. “I thought to myself ‘that is sharp.’ So when they asked me to get involved I was all about it. These clothes are high quality, fit great and are a sharp look. They bring class to men’s apparel in the arena and I’m excited to wear them.”
Jason Smith described Good Ride to us as ‘Good folks and great clothes. I’m looking forward to a Good Ride!’
We love Jason. These guys are ecstatic and have been very appreciative and gracious.
Where can people buy Good Ride?
A few choice western stores will carry our western line. I call it ‘Street Cowboy’. Good Ride will be available at marinas, motorcycle stores, surf shops, any of those types of stores. We will have a Good Ride retail store as well as have it available for sale at the horse shows. All of our pieces have a name. We have a shirt with a pirate skull that has spurs coming out of his head that look like earrings. He’s called ‘Real ‘em and ride ‘em.’
Will Good Ride be available at the Congress?
We have a Hannah booth in Congress Hall where items can be purchased and Ronnie has samples at his stalls. You will also be able to see a few of our Good Ride Guys in our clothes at the Congress. Three of them will be giving demonstrations in their respective fields at the Congress this year so we’re really excited about the level of professionals chosen to support us.
Good Ride will update its website, GoodRideLife.com every week. Keep checking back for new arrivals. In the meantime, Hannah encourages you to remember…Life’s a ride, make it a good one!
