Nicole Barnes and her gray gelding Zippos Ace Of Spades were eighth in the go in the amateur trail finals on November 9. The score to beat was Whitney Walquist and Classic Deesire’s tough 224. The course included several lope overs, a back-through gate and a water box. But the talented and multi-titled team made it look smooth and even and the judges scored it a 227. Trevor Johns and New Lark In Town came close, 13th in the go, with a 226, but Nicole and “Ace” took the gold trophy. The Journal interviewed Nicole in the arena and outside K.C.
