Michelle Lahnala-McLean of Oxford, Michigan, could hardly think as she
rode up on I Wish I Were Blue to accept the world champion awards for
the amateur title in hunt seat equitation. After the victory lap and
world champion T-shirt toss, she looked down for her in-the-arena
interview and whispered, “Can you give me a second?” Her incredulous
smile said it all. It was her moment; she had all the time in the
world. According to AQHA Pro Horseman Sandy Vaughn of Ocala, Florida,
it would have been difficult to work harder than Michelle did toward
winning this world championship.
