When a young horse wins a top level class such as the Congress Masters, it is often a defining moment for a stud owner and their breeding program. But for Mike and Rochelle Farina, owners of the two outstanding stallions, Invitation Only and Lazy Loper, the 2008 Congress was a dream come true.
Hot Ones Only, sired by Invitation Only, won the Congress Masters 2-year-old Hunter Under Saddle earning $75,000. Beth Case showed the bay stallion for owner Tammy Dyer. (Hot Ones Only also went on to win the Junior Hunter Under Saddle as well as the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle with Sharnai Thompson.)
Then in the second Masters class of the evening, One Lazy Investment, sired by Lazy Loper, won the title of Congress Masters 2-year-old western pleasure champion. Kenny Lakins showed the bay stallion for Steve and Tanya Relander and won $100,000. One Lazy Investment, out of the Relander’s great mare, January Investment, was the product of Lazy Loper’s first full foal crop.
The Farinas were unable to attend the Masters in person, but Pine View Farm manager, Debbi Trubee, was in the stands giving them the play-by-play via the telephone.

“Mike was thrilled with the Hunt Seat win for Invy,” said Trubee. “When they called out that the Lazy Loper had officially won, I’m sure they could hear him hooting and hollering all the way in Columbus.”
The Masters was not the only place that Pine View Farms horses excelled. Invitation Only was the sire of 15 Champions and numerous Reserve Champions at the 2008 Congress.
Invitation Only will stand again at Oklahoma Stud in Purcell, Oklahoma in 2009. Lazy Loper will stand at home at Pine View Farms in Ohio.
Pine View Farms has recently added Eric Anderson to its training staff. Eric will be taking a select amount of outside horses for training.
