“Hey Big Guy, You Did It Again!” That’s exactly what Mike Farina said to Lazy Loper minutes after a colt from his 2006 foal crop “No Doubt Im Lazy” was crowned AQHA World Champion in the 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure. Shown by Mitch Lecky for Linda and Frank Berris, the young bay stallion who bears a striking resemblance to his sire, wowed the judges in the finals and received three firsts, a third and a fifth place.
“I came to the barn and opened his stall and told him the great news about the World Show!” said owner Mike Farina. “I go see Lazy at the barn all the time. I say hi to him every day. He brings me a lot of happiness and now he’s bringing many others great happiness”.

The newly acquired World Champion sire title was made that much sweeter as Farina and the entire Pine View Farms family in North Lawrence, Ohio, were coming off the excitement of Lazy Loper siring the Congress Masters 2- Year-Old Western Pleasure winner “One Lazy Investment”. In three short weeks, Lazy Loper had become both a Congress and World Champion sire. Everyone at Pine View Farms was on cloud nine.
“I really think he can be one of the next super sires” says Farina. “Lazy is really stamping his babies with his great demeanor, charismatic look and presence in the pen.”
He also stamps many of them with his same coloring and markings. The Congress and World Show winners are both bay with a blaze face, just like his sire. “His babies almost look like cloning,” Farina says with a chuckle. “He’s just a cool horse! I invite anyone to come out and see him any time.”
Farina is no rookie when it comes to owning sire power. He and his wife, Rochelle, also own the number one AQHA leading performance sire for 2007 and 2006, Invitation Only. “Up until recently, it has always been Invy, Invy, Invy,” Farina says about his 2008 NSBA Hall of Fame inductee stud. “But now people can really appreciate the quality of Lazy Loper or Invitation Only from our farm. We are able to hit two price points with our stud fees and we are really excited about the future“.
Invitation Only will continue to stand at Oklahoma Stud for $8500.
Lazy Loper will stand again at Pine View Farms under the watchful eye of Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis, and where the Farinas can enjoy him every day. They will keep his stud fee at a comparable bargain price of $1750 again for 2009, but do intend to limit his book. “We want to make a positive impact on the market, says Farina. “Especially with the way the economy is today, we are not going to breed the heck out of him.”
