Join the American Quarter Horse Association on April 16 and 19 as its weekly series “AQHA Presents” takes a look back at some of today’s well-known American Quarter Horse sires during their show days. “AQHA Presents” airing on RFD-TV, will highlight some of the accomplishments of Miss N Cash, Nu Cash and Hollywood Dun It who not only made their mark in the show arena but left lasting impressions on the equine industry and the American Quarter Horse breed through their dominance in the breeding barn. The show will feature classic footage of these athletes competing in alliance partner events.
Pulled from classic episodes of “America’s Horse,” the show will begin by highlighting Miss N Cash, the 1983 sorrel stallion sired by racing legend and American Quarter Horse Hall of Famer Dash For Cash as he earned the 1987 National Cutting Horse Association Derby Champion title. Miss N Cash’s breeding success includes an impressive total of 748 AQHA registered foals that have earned more than $3.5 million through NCHA competition.
Next, the show will highlight the 1987 National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity winning run of 1984 sorrel stallion Nu Cash, featuring an interview with trainer Ted Robinson. The 1987 victory was the first of seven futurity wins for Robinson, the latest in 2005 aboard a grandson of Nu Cash, Nu Circle of Light. Nu Cash went on from his successful performance career to have an even more impressive breeding career, becoming the only Futurity winner to sire multiple open Snaffle Bit Futurity winners and becoming an NRCHA Million Dollar Sire in 2003.
The final featured horse, Hollywood Dun It, became the youngest National Reining Horse Association sire at the time to reach the million-dollar mark in 1997, going on to hit the five-million dollar mark in 2007 and becoming NRHA’s all-time leading sire. The show features the 1983 dun stallion’s 1986 NRHA Futurity Reserve Champion run with Tim McQuay aboard who shortly thereafter became one of his owners.
