Bidding and Buying:
Bidding is OPEN NOW. Lots in Session One will begin closing at 7:00 PM ET on Tuesday, September 12, 2012 at the times stated for each entry. Session Two will begin closing at 7:00 PM ET on Tuesday, September 12, 2012 at the times stated for each entry.
Bidding on lots will close every 3 minutes. If late bids (last minute) are received on a horse, an additional 2 minutes will be added to the countdown timer on that lot. Only after a 2 minute period passes with no additional bidding will the bidding close.
After the bid opening, a bidder may place individual bids that are $50 higher than the previous bid up to $2,000, after this level is reached bid amounts go to $100 as indicated by the auction system. Alternatively, a Bidder may place confidential maximum (proxy) bids where they declare the maximum dollar amount they want to bid, and the computer will bid on their behalf until they have successfully purchased the horse or the asking price exceeds the amount of their maximum bid. Maximum bids are strictly confidential and are not known by other buyers or the seller.

Buyers will be notified if they are the successful purchaser of a horse via email, immediately after the bidding closes, unless the horse is sold subject to seller confirmation.
Buyers are required to complete payment through Professional Auction Services, Inc. within three (3) days of the close of bidding on each horse they purchase or once the sale is confirmed for a horse subject to seller confirmation.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange for transportation to get their new horse delivered. The seller may charge board for keeping the horse after 5 days from the date the auction closes.

Pick up your horse.
You are responsible for picking up your new horse or making arrangements for it’s transport. You will receive an email confirmation of payment that you or your transporter will to present to the caretaker of the horse. The caretaker will also have your information.
The Buyer must remove the property purchased from the auction premises within 48 hours after payment but in any event not more than five (5) days after acceptance of the offer by Seller. Seller is not obligated to offer other storage arrangements to Buyer and will consider such requests on a case by case basis. Any purchases not removed within 48 hours of payment or within five (5) days after acceptance of the offer by Seller, whichever occurs first, or for which other arrangements have not been made, shall be deemed to have been abandoned by the Buyer to the Seller who will assume all right, title, and interest in the asset.

No Liens
The U.S. Marshals Service has been ordered by the Court to sell all horses within the defendant’s herd, regardless of location. A lien or encumbrance will not be assessed as a part of any sale price. Transfer of a horse will occur forthwith following sale. The U.S. Marshals Service will coordinate with the AQHA to effect ownership transfer following sale. The Court’s Order reads, in part:
3. at page 5 – “. . .the United States Marshals Service shall sell the defendant properties in the most commercially feasible manner, including but not limited to live and online auctions; it is further ordered,”
6. at page 6 – “In furtherance of the interlocutory sale and disposal, the United States Marshals Service or its authorized agent is authorized to prepare and sign any and all documents relating to the sale and transfer of ownership of the defendant properties.”
9. at page 6 – “Rita A. Crundwell shall execute any documents necessary to effectuate the interlocutory sale and disposal of the defendant properties; it is further ordered.”
11. at page 6 – “This Court shall retain jurisdiction in this matter to take additional action and enter further orders as necessary to implement and enforce this protective order directing the interlocutory sale of the above-identified property.

AP–The U.S. Marshals Service will auction the first 93 of hundreds of horses owned by a former Illinois city official charged with stealing public funds.
The online auction at www.professionalauction.com will start at noon Friday and will close on Tuesday for 46 of the horses and Wednesday for 47 horses.
A live auction will be held in Dixon, Ill. on Sept. 23 and 24 to sell the remainder of the nearly 400 horses owned by Rita Crundwell.
Crundwell was arrested in April and is accused of stealing more than $53 million from the city of Dixon since 1990 while working as its comptroller. She has pleaded not guilty to a wire fraud charge. Prosecutors say Crundwell siphoned the money into a secret bank account and used it to sustain a luxurious lifestyle.

Ten horses that formerly belonged to Rita Crundwell of Dixon, Illinois, have been moved from the online auction to the live auction later this month, according to Professional Auction Services.
The online auction, September 7-12, will feature halter and performance horses. Bidding for the online auction begins at noon September 7. Bidding on hips 1-52 will close at 7 p.m. September 11, and bidding on hips 53-103 will close at 7 p.m. September 12, according to the PAS website. Attest, a three-time world champion; I Execute Class, a five-time world champion; and Pizzazzy Lady, a five-time world champion, are among the horses expected to sell online.

Rita Crundwell’s horses were seized by the U.S. Marshals Service. Because of the circumstances surrounding this sale, there are unique aspects to the sale that buyers can only learn by carefully studying the PAS website. The U.S. Marshals Service sale terms and conditions differ from many auctions.
A 10 percent buyer’s premium will be added to the purchase price of each horse up to $250,000. Horses that sell for more than $250,000 will have a buyer’s premium of 8 percent, according to the PAS website. Illinois sales tax will be added to the prices as well.
Mike Jennings of PAS says there are no liens on any of the horses in the sales, and the horses will be transferred after the sale.
Bidders must register and submit a $250 bid deposit to participate through PAS. Auction catalogs are available by request through the website. The bidder number is good for both auctions.
The live auction, September 23-24, will take place at the farm, 1556 Red Brick Road in Dixon, where there is no parking. Cars and trailers will be parked at remote locations, and visitors will take shuttles to the farm. Admission is free. Buyers who aren’t at the sale can follow the live auction and bid online through the PAS website.
Horses to be sold in the live auction are available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 20-22 by appointment through PAS, which has a list of veterinarians available to perform prepurchase examinations.
