The Rock Candids from AQHA European Championships

The 28th European Championship of the American Quarter Horses 2017 is a wrap. It was held in Rieden/Kreuth from August 4th to Sunday, August 13, 2017.

“It is the biggest international event in Germany in the Western scene with many sporting highlights and certainly an entertainment factor,” says Michaela Kayser, the show manager of the ECQH, describing the European Championship.

There were more than 400 horse-rider combinations from more than 16 nations, who competed for the titles and trophies. In addition to the 31 Circuit Champions and numerous trophies and ribbons, there were over 70 European Championship titles, each of them is honored with a designer bronze trophy specially created for this event by Ellen Welten.

“I really love going to the European Championships,” Leonie Fischer of Leipzig, Germany told us. “From the age of 12, I have competed, so this was my tenth ECQH. “I’m heading home with three bronze medals and some top ten placings. Overall, it was a great and well-organized show. Compared to the last years, there were a lot more select riders competing on a very high level.”

Leonie adds,”After this great week with my horse show family, I am looking forward to see all of them next month at the Q17 International German Championships in Aachen again.”

The European Championship is organized by the Federation of European Quarter Horse Associations (FEQHA), which was founded in 1997 to promote the Quarter Horse in Europe.
