In an effort to make the Oklahoma Holiday Classic the “go-to” show at the end of the year, the Oklahoma Paint Horse Club (OPHC) has decided to beef-up their already successful Holiday Classic.
“We are making a few changes we believe will be to the advantage of all of our exhibitors including changing the dates, adding a Stallion Service Auction (SSA) based futurity, and we are adding NSBA associated classes to our lineup as well,” Dominic DeStefano, OPHC Board Member and Futurity Chairman states.
The dates of their show have changed to December 28-31st of December, offering two four judge Paint-O-Rama’s.
“We are expecting the weather to be great!” DeStefano says. “This will allow exhibitors to be home for both the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. It is also one of the final APHA shows of the year, making it the show to rack up those year end exhibitor points.”
The show will also now be home to the Oklahoma Year-End Breeder’s Cup Futurity as well, an SSA based futurity.
DeStefano adds, “The Club is extremely excited to begin this endeavor. The funds raised from the SSA will go towards the added money in the futurity classes and 20 percent of the money raised will be put towards the OPHC Youth/Scholarship Fund. With 80 perfect of the SSA funds and 100 percent of the class entry fees going back to exhibitors as prize money, you are definitely going to want to attend. Both Regular Registry and Solid Paint horses are eligible to show in the futurity classes.”
Stallions such as I Got Em Talkin, John Simon, The Big Sensation, The Gift of Midas and other industry greats have already enrolled in the SSA. “In between opening presents and ringing in the new year, the Holiday Classic is going to be the place to be!” DeStefano says.
