AQHA World Show Schedule Is Released –
Many Prelims To Show in Barn 6

The American Quarter Horse Association’s World Show isn’t starting until November, but AQHA is already busy building on the success of the 2007 World Show. The championship excitement begins Friday, November 7 in Oklahoma City and will include enhancements to the schedule to better accommodate exhibitors.

The World Show cutting classes will be held earlier in the schedule this year. The open cutting preliminaries will be contested on November 15, and the junior and senior cutting finals will take place November 19. The schedule is tentative and subject to change. Amateur cutting will be contested during Bank of America Amateur Week with prelims on November 11 and finals on November 13.

“After visiting with exhibitors and members of AQHA’s Professional Horsemen’s Association, we have decided to make changes to the World Show schedule,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer. “The changes will allow the show to run smoother.”

In addition to the changes to the schedule, some preliminaries will be contested in Barn 6. Construction efforts began at State Fair Park in 2005, and in 2007, exhibitors got a first-hand look at the enhancements. The World Show will take advantage of these improvements in 2008.

“Utilizing the arena in Barn 6 for preliminaries while competition continues in Norick Coliseum will improve the flow of the show and will allow us to stay on schedule,” Brewer said. “All finals will be contested in Norick Coliseum.”

The World Show begins a day earlier in 2008 and will continue through November 22. To view the tentative schedule, visit the World Show homepage.
