Randy Baker Wins TAQHA Logo Competition

Randy Baker of Texarkana
may not be a graphic designer by trade, but he clearly showed he has a talent
in design by winning the Texas Amateur
Quarter Horse Association
(TAQHA)
logo competition.

“When the TAQHA Board decided
we needed a new logo, I went to work on it right away,” Baker
explained. “I’m not a professional graphic artist but because of the
powerful tools we have on our computers these days; it allows anyone with even
a little creativity to produce some pretty nice stuff.”

The original vote came down to Randy Baker’s and Angela Fox’s design. At
the Texas
Amateur Championship show held in Waco from April 13-18, both logos were displayed in front of the show office and anyone
who was a TAQHA member could vote for their favorite design. The
winner had their choice of a free stall at the Amateur Show, the
Texas Classic or $110 cash! “Given the current
unpredictability of the economy, I chose the cash,” said Baker.

Randy’s winning design will proudly be displayed on the website,
t-shirts, and stationary. “The Texas
Quarter Horse Association
logo is immediately recognized as something TEXAS
and I wanted our logo to have that same effect without looking too much like
theirs,” Randy said. “So, I started with the Texas flag then played around
with overlaying various images and tried different fonts and text
arrangements. In the end, I decided to let the flag be on top of
everything else–but somewhat transparent, and I liked that look best.”

GoHorseShow.com congratulates Baker on his win and looks forward to
seeing the logo proudly displayed at many of the horse shows throughout the state.
