Quality Appaloosas Sell Big at 2010 World Appaloosa Sale

FORT WORTH, Texas — Prospective buyers gathered October 27, 2010 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, to view nearly 100 quality Appaloosas up for auction in the 2010 World Appaloosa Sale, held in conjunction with the prestigious 2010 World Championship Appaloosa Show.

The highly anticipated annual event, hosted by the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC), was comprised of several sales, including the Yearling Incentive Sale, the Broodmare Incentive Sale and the Select Appaloosa Sale. Consigners and buyers enjoyed a reception hosted by K.E. Taylor Drilling, Inc and Black Horse Ranch of Douglas, Wyoming.

The 2010 World Appaloosa Sale generated an overall average sale price of $4,481. This year’s high-seller at $25,000 was Miss Ice Te, a Yearling Incentive consignment from Winning Ways Ranch, Riverside, California.

Horses in the Yearling Incentive portion of the sale are eligible to compete in the 2011 World Sale Incentive Classes which have a minimum payout of $10,000 in each of the three classes. Foals out of the mares in the Broodmare Incentive Sale also qualify to participate in World Sale Incentive classes as two year olds.

“Everyone understands the impact of tough economic conditions, but the 2010 sale was generally strong and showcased an outstanding group of Appaloosa horses. Buyers appreciated the opportunity to add proven genetics to their programs,” said ApHC CEO Steve Taylor.

While the sale attracted many ApHC members and buyers from throughout the U.S., it was truly a global event, with buyers from Mexico, Italy, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Consignment forms the 2011World Appaloosa Sale will be available in the coming months and are due in August 2011. Stay tuned to www.appaloosa.com for more information!
