Gypsys Little Image Passes Away

GoHorseShow.com is sad to report the recent passing of Reserve World Champion pleasure mare, Gypsys Little Image, who was owned by Henry and Donna Rosciti of North Scituate, Rhode Island.

Fondly known by many nicknames, “Miss Gypsy”, “Baby G”, and “Mama G”, this talented mare was at a breeding facility to have embryo transfers done when she became sick. According to the autopsy, this gorgeous bay mare by Good Version out of Miss Shady Gypsy died as a result of a ruptured stomach–causes which were undetermined.

“She was the kindest horse you could be around, and she loved food,” Sarah Rosciti told GoHorseShow.com about Gypsy, who was shown by her father-in-law in the Select Western Pleasure classes. “We always said she got fat on air. Every time you walked into the barn she would rest her nose through the bars wanting a treat.”

This 1997 bay mare was Top 5 with Henry Rosciti in the Select Western Pleasure at the Congress and Sarah’s husband also showed her to win a class at the Reichert Celebration. Baby G was also a 2001 High Point Western Pleasure winner in the Junior and Amateur Western Pleasure. Carl Yamber also showed her in 2006 to a Reserve World Championship at the AQHA World Show in the Senior Western Pleasure.

“She gave us three great colts, and one on the way by Invitation Only that Pine View Farms graciously let us buy back after this happened. We are praying it’s a filly. She was such a great mother too,” Sarah said.

Two of Gypys’s babies are four year-olds. The most successful being bay stallion, Machine Made, who is owned by Dr. Candice Hall and Dr. Corey Seebach. He is a 2-time NSBA Reserve World Champion, 3rd at the Congress in the Open 3’s, and was Scottsdale Non Pro Three Year Old Champion. The other four year-old, Gota Good Image, is currently being shown by Henry Rosciti Jr. in the Amateur Western Pleasure and the open events with David Miller. This 2007 gelding is a Reserve futurity Winner, Tom Powers Top-5, and NSBA money earner. The Rosciti’s also have a full brother to Machine Made that just turned two.

Multiple World Champion trainer Karen Hornick says that this mare will be greatly missed. “She was one of the sweetest horses that ever took a breath of air,” Hornick fondly remembered. “She was the first futurity horse that I did well on–very easy to train and a neat horse.”

Rosciti says that she has one recent funny memory of her. “She had been getting a little too fat at home, so, we were riding her a few times a week…bareback. I got to lope her around the fields and she was great.”

Sarah continued, “But one day Henry (her husband) and I were fixing things in the barn and I asked him if he thought Gypsy would let me ride her with no bridle or saddle..he said ‘I think so?’, so I pushed her over to the fence and climbed on. She wouldn’t go anywhere,” Sarah recalls and laughs. “Maybe got a few strides out of her before she turned around and headed back to the barn. So Henry thought it was me. So he tried and she did the same thing–she was just smarter than both of us.”

Condolences to the whole Rosciti family on their loss of this great mare.
