The European Championship of American Quarter Horses in Kreuth, Germany, is in full swing. The event runs August 12-20 and features a wide array of performance classes.
At the European Championship, all exhibitors in the performance classes (with the exception of cattle classes) have to compete in two go-rounds. The top horses are then brought back to the final round, which is a huge success in itself, considering the caliber of horses and riders competing at the European Championship.
The European Championship boasts a total purse of € 18,000 (including money and prizes). Aside from the champion’s buckle, each European champion receives a blanket, sponsored by Jagfeld Quarter Horses (open), Karin Prevedel (amateur) and Matteo Sala (youth).
One of the other benefits to showing at the European Championship is a wide array of paid warm-ups, which are offered by the show office.
Trail competitors received some extra aid when designer of the 2011 European Championship trail course, Ann Dennis, coached the paid trail warm-ups and explained the best way possible for exhibitors to approach the course.
