Dakota Congratulates Dr. Scott Myers as New OQHA Exec. Director

It is with great Buckeye pride, that Scott Myers
has been appointed by the Ohio Quarter Horse board of directors to the
role of Executive Director, and leader of the OQHA signature event, The
All American Quarter Horse Congress. As a longtime serious amateur
exhibitor, OQHA Director, past President and Tri Chairman, Scott brings
many attributes to the table, but most especially the voice of the
people he has worked with for years.

When I first decided to enter the path of national service with AQHYA, the first person I consulted was Dr. Scott Myers. It isn’t coincidence that when my beloved first dog developed a terminal illness, the first person I consulted was Scott who is a highly compassionate veterinarian and just so happened to graduate from my favorite school–The Ohio State University. When I celebrated my year-end high point awards on Hopeful Assets, it was Dr. Myers who offered to throw the party, cook the steaks, and sent me beautiful roses (my first!). I would have to say unequivocally that he has been one of the biggest mentors and confidants in my horse career. The bottom line is that he is a great listener, and a man who is always there for his friends and family.

Top 10 Things You May Not Know About Scott

  • He calls his wife Leslie, “Lovey” (who is also a practicing veterinarian and workaholic).
  • Scott is a National Director at AQHA and longtime NSBA Director.
  • He runs and trains regularly with his daughters Taylor and Mallory who compete in track and field.
  • Scott is a master craftsman and woodworking genius! You have to see his loving personal restoration of his well known Sharon Center, Ohio southern antebellum home to appreciate what I’m talking about here.
  • He has a penchant for Boxer dogs, although you may be accustomed to seeing him tote around the family fluffball, Kitty!
  • He built (with his own hands) the new wing on his wife’s small animal clinic and doggie day care center complete with 4 poster beds!
  • He and his daughter, Mallory have both won World Show globes on the same horse “Darn that Kat”, a/k/a Sylvester – keeping it all in the family!
  • He’s been known to chaperone his daughters on dates (love that because I’m almost 20 and my Mom still loves to chaperone my dates).
  • Scott sold his longtime large animal practice to more actively pursue time with his family and interest in community service.
  • He and his wife once owned World Champion stallion Indian Artifacts!

Please join me in congratulating Scott on his new post at Ohio Quarter Horse!
