With Dr. Scott Myers taking on the role as the Ohio Quarter Horse Association’s new Executive Director, he has stepped down as the association’s president, a position he began in February after OQHA’s annual elections.
According to OQHA’s bylaws, if the office of President becomes vacant, for whatever reason, the First Vice President will succeed to the presidency for the rest of the term. Thus, Chris Cecil Darnell has assumed the role of OQHA President.
“I am honored to serve the Ohio Quarter Horse Association as it’s 26th President and I look forward to the opportunity to serve this organization,” Darnell said.
Aside from her eight years serving on the OQHA Board of Directors, Chris Darnell is also a past president of the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association, where she continues to serve as treasurer, sits on the NSBA Board of Directors and serves on the AQHA Shows and Professional Horsemen Committees. Her family owns and operates Cecil Breeding Farm and a fine dining restaurant, Lanning’s Restaurant in Akron, Ohio. Darnell herself owns Simply Show Services LLC, a show management company used by numerous shows, including the Reichert Celebration, NSBA Show Your Colors, the Southern Belle Invitation and many local shows in Ohio.
