GoHorseShow would like to send get well wishes and prayers to horse trainer, Vicki Pitts of Indiana. Here is a note from her husband, Brad, on her current status that he posted on his wife’s Facebook page.
05/08/13–Vicki’s daughter, Carli is happy to report that her mother is finally home and doing better. She is still on oxygen and in a wheelchair but she is slowly improving. Vicki plans on going to the New Castle, Indiana State Show and Big A. We hope to see here there!
04/05/13–From husband, Brad Pitts–Vicki has been cleared of all infection at this time and has been released from any dialysis at this time. They even removed the dialysis catheter from her neck since they are confident she will not need it anymore. She still has a feeding tube since she is still a little too weak to eat safely. They are working with her to help improve those muscles and expect her to be eating in the next week or so. She also requires continuous oxygen until her lungs can heal. They took a real hit.
She has moved to a rehabilitation hospital so they can help get her strength back. We are hoping she will only be there for a couple weeks and then come home.
Thanks again for all of the prayers and support. It really meant a great deal to us. It looks like she is going to make it all they way!
03-11/13–From husband, Brad Pitts:
I am not much of a social media person, but my wife, Vicki, needs all the prayers she can receive. She is in critical condition in intensive care on a ventilator and continuous dialysis for total kidney failure. She came home from the March To The Arch horse show not feeling well on Sunday night and by Tuesday night was in ICU on a ventilator. Somehow she contracted a blood infection and pneumonia from MRSA. They did not expect her to live through the night on Wednesday. It is now Saturday and the initial problem seems to be under control, although she is still on a ventilator. The infection and shock to the body has completely shut down her kidneys. They say it is a 50/50 possibility for the kidneys to return function with time and lots of prayer. Please send prayers for her.
I have never been a person to share these kinds of things on some website and always thought people that did were just silly. I now understand why people do this…you will do anything to save your wife.
