Twenty Equestrians Named to NCEA Academic Honor Roll

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Twenty South Carolina equestrians were named to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s Academic Honor Roll, it was announced today. Five Gamecocks were named to the NCEA Academic First Team, three were named to the NCEA Academic Second Team, and two were named to the NCEA Academic Honorable Mention list.

“This is an outstanding group of student-athletes who have dedicated themselves to excellence in the classroom and I am very proud of these ladies,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to succeed as a student-athlete, and we have a great team that understands the importance of academic success. We have a wonderful staff at the Dodie Academic Enrichment Center and I appreciate all of their hard work in helping our student-athletes succeed.”

The following criteria should be followed: (1) NCEA Academic First Team – nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 70% of their schools’ meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (2) NCEA Academic Second Team-nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 60% of their schools’ meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated-student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (3) NCEA Academic Honorable Mention – nominated student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 50% of their schools’ meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and the nominated student athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively. (4) NCEA Academic Honor Roll – nominated student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring and Fall semesters, respectively.
