AQHA EC Approves Temporary Provision for Open Entries

Dear AQHA Professional Horsemen:

Yesterday the AQHA Blue-Ribbon Task Force recommended, and the AQHA Executive Committee approved, a temporary provision to help American Quarter Horse owners and trainers who have Progressive-level horses. Under the leveling program rules, open riders in scored classes/individual work classes would have been allowed to show four horses in any combination (Progressive and Open) in a class that was leveled.

With the temporary hiatus of the Progressive level, April 11 it was approved: To allow open riders to show four horses in scored/individual work classes at any AQHA show in the junior or the senior, provided at least one of the horses is Progressive-eligible. In all age classes, exhibitors have been allowed to show four horses, so there is no change there.

As per AQHA Rule SHW100.7, it will continue to be the exhibitor’s responsibility to accurately complete the show entry and assume responsibility for any errors. If an open rider shows four horses in junior or senior where none are Progressive-eligible, all the entries will be disqualified. The horse levels are online at www.aqha.com/leveling.

Exhibitors should verify their horses’ levels prior to entry. This is a temporary accommodation. When the leveling program is re-launched, established leveling rules will apply.
