RICHMOND, Ind. – Byron Shane Russell, age 35, of Richmond went home to be with The Lord, Friday, December 20, 2013, at his residence. Born April 16, 1978, in Richmond to Alan Russell and Tami Harkleroad Russell, Shane was a life-long resident of Richmond. He was a 1996 graduate of Centerville High School. Shane was a nationally known horse rider and trainer. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Snaffle Bit Association. Shane was an eight year member of the 4-H Club, “Outlaws”. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include Carmen Russell, the mother of his children, Ryleigh Madison Russell and Gavin Cole Russell, all of Richmond; companion, Brittaney Worch of Richmond; sister, Amber (Jeff) Scherschel of Richmond; paternal grandmother, Pauline Russell of Houlka, Mississippi; niece, Jolie Anna of Richmond; aunt, Keri (John) Matthews of Richmond; uncles, Tim and Terry Harkleroad, both of Richmond and Steve Russell of Houlka, Mississippi; cousins, Ross, Justin, Rhett, Shawn, Jody, and Bobbie Sue; family of Carmen Russell; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Marlene Harkleroad and paternal grandfather, Byron Russell.
Visitation for Byron Shane Russell will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 121 South 18th Street, Richmond, with Rev. Robert Meckley and Dr. Martin Holman officiating. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
