The American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show will once again host the National Quarter Horse League Huntfield Derby finals. The AQHA World Show is tentatively scheduled for November 7-22 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
In addition to the low and high hunter derby, NQHL will also offer a trail derby for western horses. Both the hunter and trail derbies will be held in the Performance Arena. The date will be announced at a later time.
“The addition of the Huntfield Hunter and Trail derbies will be a great complement to the AQHA World Show, giving more exhibitors opportunities to compete and earn recognition,” said Tom Persechino, AQHA executive director of competition and breed integrity. “Horses competing in either the hunter or trail derby will also have to be entered in the AQHA World Show, so there is a real partnership with the addition of these classes.”
“Our goal is to be an asset to AQHA whether at weekend shows or at the very top – the AQHA World Show,” said Kim Farrell, NQHL team leader and administrator. “By returning the Hunter Derby to the AQHA World Show and adding a Trail Derby, our goal is to offer something for these highly specialized competitors and showcase even more talent with these great American Quarter Horses. We hope more AQHA shows will choose to partner with NQHL as we move forward.”
More information, including how to enter the Hunter and Trail derbies will be available soon.
