According to Charlie Cole, there are no fires threatening Del Mar or the show, but says he has witnessed fires everywhere–eight burning in the San Diego area alone.
“I went and helped evacuate horses from Rawhide Ranch where I grew up and went to boarding school. My friend, Mark Skipton, who works there called me and said he couldn’t believe how many people showed up to help move the 50 horses and many other farm animals,” says Cole, who is in California for the Sun and Surf Circuit. “Fortunately, the fire threatening Rawhide looked nearly contained this evening. The winds have died down a lot and hopefully the fire fighters will get the upper hand tonight.”
