Pete Garcia Quarter Horses of Ocala, Florida would like to congratulate Gail Burke of Cumming, Georgia on the purchase of Its Hot In Ocala better known as “Vegas”.
The gorgeous four year-old black gelding is by Masterson Farms’ RL Best of Sudden and out of Ima Hot invitation. Vegas is part of triplets that were flushed from Ima Hot Invitation at the same time and implanted in three different recipient mares.
Burke and Vegas will be under the guidance of Jamie Higgins.
“I’m so excited about Vegas,” says his new owner, Gail Burke (pictured bottom left). “Jamie knew what kind of horse I needed and had been looking for me. He called me from the Lucky 7 and said he had found a black gelding that he thought would be a good match for me. I was immediately drawn to him when we went to Ocala to ride him. He has such a smooth feel and the sweetest temperament.”
Just recently, Garcia’s horses, Shes So Posh and Its Hot In Ocala, who are full siblings from the same embryo flush, were first and second in the Kim Rich Memorial Green Western Pleasure Class that was held in Montgomery, Alabama last month. Vegas was also the circuit champion in the Green Western Pleasure at the Summer Sizzler, and Reserve Circuit Champions at the Virginia Classic and Lucky 7.
While working for Garcia, Higgins won the Tom Powers in the Open Limited Maturity Western Pleasure on Vegas’ mother, Ima Hot Invitation in 2009 and was Reserve Champion Open Limited Maturity Western Pleasure NSBA High Point Champion for 2009 as well.
“Vegas lopes just like his mother,” Higgins states. “He has a great front leg and huge hocked; lots of self carriage and is a very soft mover. He has an amazing feel that I love.”
Higgins plans on showing Vegas in the Green Western Pleasure, Junior Western Pleasure, and Limited Maturity at the upcoming shows. Higgins will be adding the showmanship to his repertoire and Burke and Vegas plan on qualifying for the 2015 Novice Championship Show in the western pleasure and showmanship.
