Exciting Opportunities Added to Level 1 Championships

Exhibitors have the chance to win money this year at the 2014 SmartPak West and Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 (Novice) Championships. An optional jackpot entry has been added for Level 1 and Rookie amateur and youth classes.

Also, World Conformation Horse Association halter classes for weanlings and yearlings will be offered – two weanling classes, one for colts and geldings, and one for fillies; and three yearling classes (colts, geldings and fillies). In these classes, each horse must be shown by its owner-breeder and must sired by an American Quarter Horse stallion enrolled in the WCHA Futurity program. For complete rules, see the Level 1 Championships Handbook. Enter this class today using the entry form located in the competitor resources on www.aqha.com/novicechampionships.

The Nutrena East Level 1 Championship is September 30 – October 5 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The SmartPak West Level 1 Championship is October 1-5 at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. Entries are due September 2. The entry fee is $300 for Level 1 classes or $200 for Rookie classes, which includes the entry fees for three classes, drug testing, video and office charges, and one stall for the duration of the show. For an additional fee, exhibitors can enter the optional jackpot for a chance at prize money; that fee is $50 for each amateur class and $25 for each youth class.

“We are excited to offer to our exhibitors a chance to win cash,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA executive director of show and judges. “The low cost to enter the jackpot, combined with the number of payout placings we hope encourages exhibitors to participate in this great opportunity for prize money.”

The jackpot will pay out to the 10th-place exhibitor. For a full list of rules and the jackpot payout schedule, view the 2014 Level 1 Championships handbook. Level 1 entry forms will be available later in July.
