Final NSBA Champions Named at 2014 PHBA World Show

A quartet of exhibitors and horses earned the final NSBA titles at the 2014 Palomino Horse Breeders World Championship Show in Tunica, Mississippi, on Saturday. Familiar faces dotted the list as awards were presented in Battle Arena.

Trevor Barnes won a second PBHA/NSBA championship title at the lead of Invest In Your Dreams (at left), winning the PBHA/NSBA Yearling Longe Line along with $949.40 for his mother, Debra Barnes.

“We’ve only had her a couple of weeks,” Barnes said. “My mom picked her out at the Tom Powers and we bought her there. We loved everything about her. She walks, she jogs, she lopes, and she’s very pretty. She’s been really easy to work with.”

Trevor Barnes rode Batt Mans Cruiser to win the Three Year Old Western Pleasure for his mother, Debra. The duo earned the largest paycheck of the day, $1,011.46.

“I just love his lope,” said Barnes. “He’s got a great hock and front leg, and he’s just such a unique color.”

The PBHA World Show was just the third time Batt Mans Cruiser had been shown. “We took him to the Tom Powers and he wasn’t quite ready,” Barnes said. “He’s really come together as the summer has gone on.”

The gelding, who is by Batt Man and out of a Seven S Flashy Zipper mare, had quite a fan club cheering for him at the show. “We’re very excited,” said Debra Barnes. “His breeders, John and Leanne Connor, are here with us too.”

Wednesday Sees Repeat Champions & New Faces at PHBA World Show

Wednesday of the Open and Amateur week at the Palomino Horse Breeders of America’s World Championship Show in Tunica, Mississippi saw some repeat winners and a few new faces during a day that featured several Western Non-Pro events.

Mr Good N Ready and Kelsey Guthrie Rudy earned the first of two world championships the pair would win during the day in PHBA and NSBA Amateur Showmanship.
