GoHorseShow is sad to report the passing of well known halter breeder Jerry Vawter of Valley View, Texas. Vawter had bred quarter horses for over 50 years including some of the greats in the halter industry including: Kid Clu, Excelebration, Log Cabin Quest, Sir Quincy Dan, Zip to Impress, Quincy Feature, and Conclusive Lace–dam of Kid Clu.
“My heart is heavy today with the passing of a great man and horseman,” Kathy Snodgrass states on her Facebook page. “I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet Jerry and Gwen (his wife) at the world show years ago. A personal thrill for me was to sit and watch classes with him and soak up as much of his wisdom and knowledge of conformation I could. I learned so much in our few visits….truly a legend. My prayers and heart are with his beautiful wife, Gwen, their family and friends. May he rest in peace caring for God’s pastures. I know Jerry will be greeted by his beloved horses at Heaven’s gate.”
