Jud Little Scholarship to Culver Academies Offered

For the right student, being chosen to receive the Jud Little Scholarship to Culver Academies can be a life-changing experience. Endowed by Culver Alumni Jud Little of Ardmore, Oklahoma, this scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school students from Oklahoma to attend Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana.

Culver Academies is one of the largest boarding schools in America, with over 800 students. It features a broad college preparatory curriculum with a focus on educating its students for leadership and responsible citizenship by developing and nurturing the whole individual and emphasizing the cultivation of character.
Its 1,800 acre campus features the Vaughn Equestrian Center with one of the country’s largest indoor riding hall and stable complexes, the 64,500 square foot Roberts Hall of Science, the Huffington Library, and the Henderson Ice Arenas which provide facilities to three boys’ and two girls’ hockey teams, and the newly constructed Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center.
A rich variety of offerings from horsemanship to fine arts, including 23 Advanced Placement courses and electives in every discipline meets the needs and cultivates the interests of virtually any student. Its success rate is well documented; 99 percent of Culver students attend college and its alumni include standouts from actor Hal Holbrook to country singer Dierks Bentley to Olympic Silver Medalist Molly Engstrom.
The first Jud Little Scholarship was awarded in 2008 and each year a new recipient begins a Culver career. The scholarship covers full tuition, room and board, uniforms, horsemanship fees, and books. Funding for the Global Pathways Spring Program is also an option. The scholarship is awarded based on family need and student merit, and is renewable on an annual basis. Recipients who continue to excel academically, as student leaders, and in extracurricular activities will receive a total, four-year education with a value in excess of $200,000.
Jud Little is owner and CEO of The Quintin Little Company, Inc. an independent oil and gas production and exploration company. While attending Culver Military Academy Jud learned to play polo and went on to play polo around the globe while earning a Bachelor Degree of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Jud still raises top performance horses on his 2,000 acre ranch just north of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
To be considered for the Jud Little Scholarship, applicants must be from Oklahoma. They must have demonstrated an excellent citizenship and academic record, and possess the characteristics and traits that suggest the successful candidate will participate fully in Culver’s leadership development program. The ideal candidate will be a student entering 9th grade or willing to repeat 9th grade for the 2015/2016 academic year. Applicants must take the SSAT as part of the application process.
