James Collier Passes – Memorial Details Announced

Our deepest condolences to the Collier and Augsburger families on the passing of Jimmy Collier. RIP

James P. Collier, Jr (Jimmy), 80, passed on June 1, 2024, after a hard fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Collier, son Kevin Collier (Cindy), daughter Lori Augsburger (Andrew), grandchildren Daniel Bergman, Jamie Crawford, Cheyenne Augsburger, four great-grandchildren, brothers Harold (Linda) Collier and Rick (Deanna) Collier, sister Dottie Collier, nieces, nephews and many loving cousins. He is also fondly remembered by his neighbors, employees, colleagues, and friends that were fortunate to be part of his life journey.

Born in Orangeburg, SC, Jimmy ‘s family soon moved and grew up in Pompano Beach, Fl. He began working at Bigham/Sparta Insulation sweeping out boxcars and ended up owning the company with upwards of 200 employees working throughout southern Florida. His work ethic, integrity, and energy combined to create a reputation that became the standard for his industry. He was truly an old school businessman, where a handshake and his word were stronger than a contract. Jimmy loved sports and competition. During football season he devoured college football with his team being University of Miami. On Sundays he followed the Miami Dolphins with passion. Both Kevin and Lori were taken to football games throughout their lives. Jimmy played high school baseball (3rd base) and played softball in his later years up until he was 60. He at age 80, still wore his old tournament shirts because “you had to win to get the shirt”. After retirement he moved from Loxahatchee Groves, Fl to Lake Butler, Fl where he built the horse/cattle farm of his dreams. He smiled everyday until the end, spending every moment he could with his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 13, 2024, at his farm. The visitation starting at 2:00pm followed by a memorial service at 5:30pm. Jimmy’s final memorialization will be by cremation under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home. 386-496-2008 or archerfuneralhome.com
