Horse Shows Rock: Spreading Positive Vibes Throughout the Horse Show Industry

When trainer Darla Lee was at a horse show in Harlansburg, Pennsylvania last weekend, she was hanging out with six-year-old Stella Dorsey. Lee was talking to the little girl and gave her the idea that she should do a Facebook page like Findlay Rocks. Findlay University has a page where students decorate rocks with positive sayings and hide them and have people post the stones they find and re-hide at other shows.

Stella and her siblings, Mason and Kennedy show as well as their mother, Karmon. Stella shows in the walk-trot events with her horse, “Snap.”

“We want to see just how far we can get the rocks to go,” Darla told us. “We encourage everyone to make their rocks and put ‘FB Horse Shows Rock’ on the back. We have hidden some rocks here at The Buckeye Classic and are painting rocks every night at the Lee Quarter Horse stalls.”

“I’m excited for people to find them and I hope they make them happy,” Stella (pictured right) told us about the rocks she is painting with her friends and placing around the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio.

“This group was started with an idea to spread love across the horse show community,” Trainer Darla Lee told us about the new Facebook Page, Horse Shows Rock. “When you find a rock, please share it on our group page, keep it or hide it at your next horse show. Make your rocks and hide them too. Let’s all bring some love to our day.”

Youth exhibitor Emma Brown was lucky enough to have one placed on her golf cart at The Buckeye Classic. “It said ‘Good Luck’ on it. I was very excited, mainly because I am about to enter my last youth world show. The rocks are to be re-hidden at the next show you are at. So, I will hide mine at the youth world.”

Amateur competitor Gavin Patterson has also joined in on the fun. “Another rock found, great idea everyone to spread positivity around shows. Can’t wait to hide it at the next show. #horseshowsrock.”
