For the fifth consecutive year, the month of May is Fashion Month at GoHorseShow. Fashion Month celebrates everything that makes both people and horses look great in and out of the show pen including show clothes, accessories, tack and casual wear. The May issue features the leading fashion designers and brands in our industry. Throughout the month of May, look for fashion-forward content and we kick off the month publishing the May Fashion Issue of GoMag.

The 5th Annual GoMag Fashion Issue features the ultra-fashionable, AQHA World and Congress Champion, Kent Ray Taylor of Mesa, Arizona. With a horse show career that started more than 30 years ago, Kent has accomplished many impressive firsts in our industry. He can now add to his resume that he is the very first man on GoMag’s Fashion Issue cover.

About the Cover

Kent Ray Taylor is accompanied on the cover of the 2018 Fashion Issue by his 3-year-old maiden gelding, Moonstrukk, who is trained by Angie Cannizzaro. Watch for them in the three old Non-Pro and Open Western Pleasure events this year.

His cover look includes a Valentino shirt with custom jewelry designed by Hannah and a custom Shorty’s hat. “I would describe my style in the show pen as contemporary with a touch of elegance. I use all the designers I like and just edit them to fit the show pen. I like to think about each outfit and love to create, including matching my jewelry to what I will be showing in for each class.”

Kent’s passion for show ring fashion dates as far back as his youth career. “If you look at fashion, not fads, you can see any of the looks I showed in back then could be worn today, 30 years later.” (Pictured right, 1985 Quarter Horse Congress All-Around Youth Champion with Count McChick)

Today, his exquisite style and authentic personality sets him apart in the show pen and in life. “Fashion is fun and enjoy it,” he tells us. “It’s nothing to be worried or stressed about. Just be you and do you in the style you feel is you!”

His love of fashion comes “100% from my maternal grandparents. They were big into fashion and looking their best and using style to create your best self. This was not to impress others, but to feel your best. My grandmother would always say, “Never dress for someone else,” and my grandfather would say, “Never underestimate the power of presence.“

More than anything, Kent suggests, “Be comfortable in your own skin and just be you and you will always be in fashion.”
