We Ask Exhibitors: What Would Be Your Horse’s Theme Song Entering the Show Arena and Why?

Want to learn more about some of the horses in the industry? We asked exhibitors a fun question about what their horse's theme song would be entering the show arena?

For many exhibitors, listening to music has a similar calming effect to riding horses. Music is capable of relaxing and giving confidence to anyone, whether it be before the World Show, Congress, or a weekend show. Our favorite tunes can “pump us up” and help us perform to the best of our ability.

Sometimes, the artist who sings the song serves as an inspiration and motivates an exhibitor. Music may even embody an emotional component, which triggers fond memories. No matter the reason, listening to your favorite tunes is therapeutic.

Also, the close bond between the rider and their horse can be shown by what music, songs, or artist reminds the exhibitor of their favorite equine teammate. In this fun ‘We Ask Exhibitors’ installment, we found out what would be their horse’s theme song when entering the show arena.

Patty Bogosh – I’d have to say Put Me In Coach by John Fogerty because he loves to show and is always trying to go in the arena from the warmup pen.

Samantha Foust
– My horse Lady Marmalade would of course enter with the Moulin Rouge song Lady Marmalade. I came up with that name when her mom, Cool Cruzen Lady was showing in a trail stakes and that song played her whole ride. I knew right when I heard it her first filly had to be named that.

Lauren StanleyHow About Them Cowgirls by George Strait. There is nothing like showing a great mare. Once you are a team with them, they will give you their heart and soul every time you step into the pen. George said it best “May just be seven wonders of this big ol round world, but how bout them cowgirls.”

Emma Gore – My horse’s theme song would be Cars That Go Boom by L’Trimm because his show name is Ur Ride Has Arrived.

Grant Mastin
– Carl’s theme is without a doubt the instrumentals for Sirius, or as most people know it, the ‘96-‘97 Bull’s intro song. Anytime you are getting ready for the trail or western riding, there is always a lot of anticipation about being the only one in the arena when you’re showing. I think this song encapsulates that energy. Another reason is Michael Jordan was always known for playing with his tongue out and you know Carl is ready to go show anytime he has his tongue out.

Alexis Potts – A theme song for my horse, when he shows, would have to be The Climb by Miley Cyrus. I’ve had him since he was a 2-year-old, although every once in a while we show a little more like Jesus Take The Wheel. He makes everything a learning experience and has taught me to appreciate the journey. A line from the song is “It ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side, it’s the climb”, and I think this sums up our time together perfectly and he’s definitely made it a very memorable and rewarding climb.

Scott Reinartz – Investin A Goodbar’s theme song would be Me Too by Meghan Trainor.  Who wouldn’t want his life, plus it has a bubbly beat and fun. Only One Request’s theme song would have to be Feel Invincible by Skillet.  This is because he has grown so much in his career and he takes on every task that I throw at him. He just gets stronger and I feel it fits him.

Ellexxah Maxwell – Crank Up The Band aka Carl would definitely be TNT by AC/DC. Carl lives for his flair for drama and the only time I’ve ever played this song around him was at the Congress warming up. He went on to win both his classes that day, so I’d say it’s his jam. Unforgettably His aka Beckett would be Applause by Lady Gaga. He knows he’s gorgeous and definitely loves the attention. He’s kind of a lady’s man.

Julie Hoefling – My horse, Bringin Booty Back probably has one of the best names for a theme song for obvious reasons. Some that come to mind would be Ms. New Booty by Bubba Sparkxxx, Fat-Bottomed Girls by Queen, or Baby Got Back by Sir-Mix-a-Lot. A classier approach would probably be Bringing Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake, but the possibilities are endless.

Hilary Reinhard – Magnum’s (Zippos Ultra Gold) song would be the Bobby Brown song My Prerogative. Because when he struts into the show pen he tends to ‘Do what I wanna do’. Thankfully, most of the time he decides to let Mike and me participate and we have won a lot. Occasionally, he decides that he is in charge. That’s not as much fun. Cora’s (Made To Love) song would be Made You Look. Because she is just so pretty that, whether she is dressed to show or wearing her work clothes, she is hard not to notice.

Morgan Jennings The Good Ones by Gabby Barrett for Finely Asleep (Kobe) – ‘The kind you find when you don’t even look one. Anybody can be good once But he’s good all the time. He’s one of the good ones. And he’s all mine.’ He’s pretty much set the standard for the kindness, honesty, and consistency he’s shown me over the last several years. On his worst days, we could press play on ‘Just Keep Swimming’ because he has some Dory moments…he might not always get it right, but he always means well.

Vanessa Froman
– Russell’s (Its All Good Man) theme song would totally be the Blues Brother’s Soul Man. Collin said Hank’s theme song should be Back in Black by AC/ DC because it’s a great song for a great horse. Plus, it is the intro to the first Iron Man movie, which is a great movie. Russell’s theme song is that because he thinks he is pretty cool like the Blues Brothers. But Collin thinks it should be the theme song from the show he’s named after, Saul Goodman’s, Better Call Saul.

Ali HubbellIn the Army Now by Sabaton…since we recently roached his mane, we say he looks like a military guy. Also, my horse has gone from a one-class horse to showing in almost everything. So, we also say he’s in a new militant program.

Kim Gutowski
– It’s Don’t You Worry about a Thing by Stevie Wonder because Dallas always has my back, although sometimes he is a little too helpful.

Evie Doles – I would say Happy by Pharrell Williams! Moose is such a happy horse, so the song really fits his personality. When we’re not showing, you can usually find him sticking his tongue out and relaxing.

Meg Pye – If Marley (Dont Think Twice) had a theme song, it would be “Run The World (Girls)” by Beyoncé. She’s sassy girl power all the way. It’s her world, we just live in it!

What would be your horse’s theme song? Have fun and let us know.
