About the Cover

Debbi Trubee of North Farm in North Lawrence, Ohio said it was an incredible year for the Makin Me Willy Wild (Geoffrey) babies. “His foals started out winning the first longe line event with Make N Money, then one after another, popped out showing and winning,” Debbi told us.

Geoffrey has two 3-year-olds on the ground, and his first full crop are 2-year-olds in 2022. He finished last year with multiple NSBA World Champions, a Congress Champion and a Reserve Congress Champion. Two different yearlings also won both of the Super Sires Western Longe Line events and his two-year-old, Makin Me Happy (pictured right) was the BCF Champion in Two-Year-Old Ltd Hunter Under Saddle at the NSBA World Show.

Trubee, who, along with Roger Landis, owns and manages North Farm, said they are looking forward to his 2022 crop. “His foals look like they are going to have some size to them, and he bred quite a few more straight hunt seat mares in 2021. He’s putting such an amazing canter on them, and with the size, you get a western brain in a hunt seat body. Also, his western prospects are looking promising, with the first group started under saddle. We’re having a ton of fun getting videos on the first few rides for this group.”

Debbi says Geoffrey passes many of his positive traits on to his offspring. “His foals are very uniform across the board. They have an amazing amount of self-carriage, wicked front leg and temperament to die for. I’m a big believer in form to function, and Geoffrey is correct in all aspects for conformation. He’s passing that on to his foals.”

Debbi adds, “Geoffrey is a nice outcross for so many families that are getting a little tight on lineage. He adds a lot of good qualities to his foals. I think he’ll be known for taming down hotter-minded mares, too. His foals are good little soldiers to work with and very non-pro user friendly.”

Makin Me Willy Wild is subscribed to all the major programs; Premier Sires, Super Sires, NSBA BCF & SIF, Southern Belle Futurity, Tom Powers, Appsolute Pleasure, APHA Breeders Trust, and he’s also in the Michigan Futurity this year, along with the West Coast Breeders.
