We Ask the Industry: What is Your Favorite Place to Shop at the Congress?

Harris Leather and Silverworks is one of the many Congress shopping favorites. What is yours?

The Quarter Horse Congress has one of the largest trade shows offered throughout the show season. It is nearly impossible to avoid all three of the buildings filled to the brim with shopping, but with such a wide variety of vendors, it’s easy to drown in all of the shopping options. Could there be a better problem to have?

With the Congress now in full swing, GoHorseShow had the opportunity to ask the industry about their favorite shopping stops at the Congress. So, if you are planning a visit and need an idea of the must-hit stores in the sea of vendors – you’ve come to the right place.

Anne Wilson – I love going to Harris Leather and Silverworks and dreaming that the newest model is mine.

Alexa Black – My favorite shopping stop at the Congress would have to be Rod’s Western Palace – especially the clothing section. They always bring so much stuff; I could spend hours going through it all.

Joe Whitt – That’s easy: my favorite place to visit is Harris Leather and Silverworks. I have known the family for a long time, and they are lovely with customer service, appreciating your business, and they are always welcoming. I love their products, but their appreciation for their customers and their service level set their company apart. I always seem to find something to buy.

Shannon Vroegh – We love to hit up Cinch. You just can’t beat their ‘buy two pairs of jeans, get one free’ deal.

Dan Yeager – I’m not a shopper, but with all of the options at the Congress, you have to go shopping. I always go to Shorty’s to get my hats cleaned and reshaped, and also to see their new products in hopes of buying a new hat. I love to go window shopping at Blue Ribbon Custom Tack and Harris Leather and Silverworks. Show pads are also always on the list. Lori Heckaman is my go-to for those; she is fantastic at what she does. Lastly, I like to eat. I love the bourbon chicken at one of the places outside of the trade show, and I always have to go to Sweet Shop at least once – I have to get my fix of cinnamon rolls.

Kent Ray TaylorHarris Leather and Silverworks, Shorty’s, Kay Cotton and Company, Rod Patrick Boots, Winning Couture, and Hannah – these are my stores. They are the best in quality and have the nicest people you can ask for.

Sarah Lebsock – I love Just Peachy and Haala Denim, which will be at the Congress this year. If you haven’t tried those jeans on, you’re missing out.

Kristen Galyean – CR Ranchwear. They make quality, great fitting show shirts that last forever. They are great to work with, can custom fit you, and even match any show pad. The look is perfect, and they are very affordable.

Lacy Watson – My favorite vendor at the Congress has to be All That Show Clothing. Tammy is fantastic to work with. She is always on point with the design and fit of her clothes. She has made me three custom-fitted button-downs, and I always receive so many compliments on them. Not to mention, she offers last-minute alterations right in her booth.

Carrie Warren – This is an excellent question for me because I am a shopaholic. My daughter, Hannah and I always replenish our jeans at Rod’s Western Palace. Kathy Williams’ Boo-Yah Custom Clothing is still a stop, along with Winning Couture. When we have a free day, we hit the hall and enjoy it. It’s a wonderland of horse show equipment and bling, you can always find something that you have to have.

With so much to offer, Congress Hall is sure to have something for everyone. Do you have a favorite shop that was not mentioned? Let us know in the comments.
