GoMag: August NSBA & Select World Issue Online Now

Is it any coincidence that the hottest month of the year is also the month with some of the hottest competition in the show pen? The August issue of GoMag has it all.

August is easily one of the most important months for serious horse show enthusiasts. Despite the oppressive heat and humidity found throughout the south, exhibitors from all over the world hit the road in search of Championship titles and unforgettable experiences.

Kicking off the month is the AQHYA World Championship show in Oklahoma City, OK which is followed quickly by the incredibly popular NSBA World Championship Show in Tulsa, OK. Not to be forgotten are the AQHA European Championships in Kreuth, Germany as well as the AQHA Select Amateur World Championship show which will make its debut in Ft. Worth, TX from August 27-31.

Our amazing clients and readers have once again made the August issue of GoMag a great one and we wish everyone the best of luck in your Championship quests.

About the Cover

The August cover of GoMag features the lovely first-year amateur exhibitor Natalia DeVencenty of Vineland, Colorado. This 19-Year-Old will be showing her horse, Moonlite Madnez (Moonie), at the NSBA World Show in several events, including the Amateur Horsemanship, Trail and Western Riding. Her longtime trainer Kelly McDowall will be showing him in the Green Western Riding, Junior Trail and Junior Western Riding.

We asked Natalia about her transition from the youth to the amateur division.“It has been great so far,” says DeVencenty, a multiple AQHYA World Champion. “It’s much more laid back than the youth pen, so that was a bit of an adjustment. But the biggest change this year has been showing Moonie full-time instead of Chex, and he has been so much fun. This year has been a building year for sure, so my goals are to keep building and getting more solid in the horsemanship with Moonie.”

A special bond that Natalia has cherished over the years is showing horses with her mother, Jamie, who is currently showing Natalia’s former youth horse, Chex Is The Choice in Select Amateur events. “Showing with my mom is always awesome and I love watching them become a great team. She adds some flair and fun to the shows for sure.”

“Most people are lucky to have one once-in-a-lifetime horse, but I’ve been extremely blessed to now have two,” says DeVencenty. “Moonie is so talented and has so much heart; it shines when he is in the show pen. We haven’t had him super long, but he keeps showing us just how special he is and we couldn’t feel more fortunate to have him. Moonie still has some large hoof prints to fill, but he has stepped up this year and we’ve had a lot of fun with him.”

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to my mom and dad for their continued support of this sport I love so much,” Natalia reflects. “And to Kelly McDowall for being so much more than a horse trainer and continuing to support me in all these endeavors.”
