Gene Ashley Parker, age 68, of Orrum, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at J.P. Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He was born on May 5, 1950 in Robeson County. He will be remembered for his many years as a professional horseman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rembert L. Parker.
He is survived by his mother, Louise C. Parker of Lumberton; one son, Kyle Parker of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandson, Trent Parker of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Deborrah Parker Sisty and husband John; a niece, Season Coley and husband Thomas; a nephew, Parker Sisty and wife Megan; and a great-niece, Imogen Sisty.
A celebration of life honoring his memory will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Trent Parker Education Fund would be appreciated. Gene and his grandson, Trent, shared a love for horses. Gene always insisted that he would see to it that Trent’s dreams of going to veterinary school would be fulfilled. So, an education fund in memory of Gene has been set up for Trent. The education account is set up through USAA and donations may be mailed to Trent Parker Education Fund, 584 South Creek Road, Orrum, NC 28369.

9/29Â We are heartbroken to report that Gene Parker has passed away due to complications associated with a heart attack he suffered at the APHA World Show in Fort Worth, Texas.
