New Breeders’ Futurity Format to Debut at 2018 APHA World Show

Larger classes and bigger payouts for young Breeders’ Trust-enrolled horses are coming to the 2018 APHA World Championship Show, thanks to a new format for the lucrative Breeders’ Futurity classes.

The APHA Executive Committee approved the World Show Advisory Committee’s recommendation to eliminate the silver and bronze divisions within the Breeders’ Futurity program; now, all Breeders’ Futurity-eligible horses will compete together in the Gold division to vie for larger payouts.
These revamped Breeders’ Futurity classes are open to both Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred Registry horses that have been nominated to the program. Solid Paint-breds are also eligible to compete in most World Show challenge and sweepstakes classes.
“The Breeders’ Futurity classes are a showcase of the hard work our APHA breeders and owners put in to raising and training the up-and-coming generation of talented Paint Horses,” APHA Director of Breeders’ Trust/Breeders’ Futurity Matt Arias said. “This simplified format and increased payouts give competitors even more reason to seek out a Breeders’ Trust horse as their next show partner.”
The entry fee for each Gold Breeders’ Futurity class is $645. The first payment of $200 is due June 1, and the remaining entry fee is due August 1; late fees apply to entries not postmarked by the deadlines.

The 2018 World Show’s Gold Breeders’ Futurity classes are:

Select weanlings are also eligible to compete for more than $70,000 in the Platinum Non-Pro Weanling Breeders’ Futurity events.
