In the past few days, wildfires have devastated many areas in Southern California, including the racetrack at San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsall, California. There are several reports that over 500 Horses were let loose on the grounds because the wildfires came too fast for them to be evacuated. It is estimated that 25 horses perished in the fires. Several of the surviving horses have been rounded up and moved to the Del Mar Racetrack.
Many of our friends in the horse industry are helping out by donating supplies and feed. For anyone wanting to help, here is some contact information below on where you can donate money or supplies.

From horse judge, Cindy Weight-Carter of Carters Hay and Grain
For anyone evacuated at Del Mar, Carters Hay and Grain has sent Alfalfa, Bermuda and Shavings to the Feed Store on site. If you need to pick up alternate feed, please let us know and we can meet you here at the store, or arrange with the Fairgrounds.
If you would like to do a money donation, please call and talk to Kathleen Mondy Quick at 619-561-0631 or Amanda Agajanian Rogers at 760-436-4738 or Marla Carter Christman at JC Feed at 619-561-4479. Your donation will go directly to the evacuee horses at Del Mar feed.
We have already delivered over 1,500 bags of shavings there and many bales of hay. Our employees are working through the night tirelessly helping all involved. If you want to help, this is one way you can. Thank you all. I know how helpless we all feel. Pray for all involved.
From Janet VanBebber
I have posted about the tragedy at San Luis Rey Downs, and we are all devastated about the loss of life and the injuries to horses. This morning it occurred to me that many of the grooms have lost all their possessions, knowing that most probably live in dorms in the barn. I suspect that they need clothes to work in.
Consequently, we at AQHA gathered up some of our inventory of Team Wrangler clothes and are sending out there to benefit these ‘salt of the earth’ people. If you can help in this effort, send your donations to:
Santa Anita Park

He tells me there are 95 grooms with only the clothes on their back. Please continue to pray.
