SCOTTSDALE, AZ—Kimes Ranch, a leader in premium denim in the western fashion world, announces the new face of the brand after a tight contest showcased at the National Finals Rodeo in December. After fan votes had been cast, Sammy Barbour was named the winner in 2017. Barbour credits her win to her loyal supporters.
“I know it sounds so cliche, but I was so overwhelmed by all the support I had during the contest, I honestly wasn’t concerned about the outcome,” says Barbour. “Winning the contest was just the icing on the cake. I was so proud, and a little relieved to hear the news. I didn’t want to let all my supporters down.”
Barbour is an APHA all around horse trainer from Utah, whose roots tie her to the Utah horse country.
“My great grandpa had a cattle ranch here in Utah, so my Dad had some horse experience. Our neighbors were big time ropers when I was growing up, and I remember standing on the fence as a bitty thing praying I’d get to cool the horses out. Secretly, I think my folks hoped it was a phase, but here we are a quarter of a century later, and I’ve yet to outgrow it.”
Barbour trained under APHA top horsewoman Sandi Morgan for twelve years before opening up her facility with her husband a year and a half ago. Through her horse connections, Barbour found Kimes Ranch.
“My best friend, Alisha Kurtz, owner of Woolie’s Quality Clothier, started carrying Kimes jeans before they were even Kimes. She kept telling me how comfortable and durable they are as a riding jean. Once I tried them, I was sold.”
Kimes Ranch put a spin on their classic modeling contest this year, by hosting a daily fashion show held in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The fashion show featured the modeling finalists at the Kimes Ranch booth at Stetson Country Christmas and a photo shoot with Impulse Photography.
“I follow the Kimes Ranch Facebook page and when I saw the contest advertised and that a portion was taking place at the NFR I thought, “why not, I’m going to be there anyway.”
“I am thankful for the opportunity to support a strong, American company. I’m sure most people don’t know that quite a bit of the Kimes business happenings happens right on the family’s ranch in Scottsdale. How cool is that? I am excited to do the Kimes family proud and help this company grow.”
Watch for Sammy in upcoming Kimes Ranch photo shoots. Congratulations Sammy, the new face of Kimes Ranch.
